I'm Craig Blaine,
and welcome to JCB Music

I started here in San Diego in 1996, but have been playing guitar, writing and recording songs, performing, and working at music for the last 35 years. ( Check out my reverbnation page).

I really enjoy helping people reach their goals with guitar and voice, and participating in recording and producing the music of talented songwriters.

HERE ARE SOME RECENT REVIEWS:

"When I went in I could play some chords and knew a few scales on the guitar; when I came out, I had a recording of 6 of my songs (co-written by Craig) AND had a newfound instrument in my voice. Considering the heaping doses of encouragement, remarkable knowledge and skill, along with unparalleled professionalism ( not to mention the completely resonable price), I would recommend Craig (JCB Music) to anyone." Matt Miller, Musician, Sales

"Craig is a terrific teacher with a good ear for music and special gift for teaching. I am currently learning a variety of songs with him working on the guitar and vocals of each song. He can tailor make your practice sessions to interest you and to find your true passion for the guitar. You will not go wrong by giving him a try." Jimmie Cannon, Bail Bonds/Web Designer

"In prepping for my newest music compilation, I sought out several recording studios (including Studio West), but was greatly dissatisfied. It wasn't until I discovered JCB Music, and worked with producer Craig Blaine that my artistic vision came to life. Based on my previous recording experiences JCB Music is the first to deliver on professionalism, patience, and dedication to quality." KEVEN, Singer, Actor, Writer

"Been taking lessons from Craig for years, now. Years, but only because I have no talent. Craig is always patient, helps you play the music YOU like, and works with you to refine your sound (guitar and vocals). Whether you're a beginner, someone looking for help in producing your music to CD, or somewhere in between, I'd very highly recommend Craig Blaine." Bob LaCross, VP Jack In The Box

"I can't imagine a local studio better suited to musical creativity. JCB music is a place to settle into your creative flow and let it take you where it wants to but it's also tailored to serve those who have a precise vision and seek the technical conduit for the transfer of that vision from mind to record. With Craig you get a wellspring of music and recording knowledge. He's the kind of guy who can whip out 300 different classics on an acoustic guitar upon request. He has accumulated a large reserve of musical history and tradition over many years of being both a creator and a fan and therefore has at his disposal the unwritten manual (sometimes written) of songwriting, production and engineering moves that make up that tradition. Music as an art form is about creative choice - how much reverb or distortion, what to do for the bridge, how about of touch of echo or bullhorn, when do we bring in the drums, should the harmony be a 4th above or an octave, can we touch up that Cat Stevens with a little Metallica and a dash of Dr. Dre, etc. Brilliance in my opinion comes at that uncanny intersection of the familiar and the new, the traditional and the innovative. You may wish to cling closely to tradition and the artists who inspire you at times and at others your hunger for something different will lead to the cultivation of your own particular creative voice - both are noble desires and both are supported by Craig and JCB Music."
